The Criminal Justice System
The best way to grasp the criminal justice system is to understand that it is a massive government bureaucracy. The United States is the most criminalized country in the world. As a result, we have a dysfunctional system that is completely overwhelmed and overworked for what it can handle.
Courts have such large dockets that sometimes your case might not get the attention it deserves. Prosecutors have so many cases to handle that many of them have become jaded, convinced of everyone’s guilt and never even bothering to consider the facts of each case. Unfortunately, many well-intentioned lawyers in our state’s public defenders offices are so overworked, they simply do not have the time and resources to put together your best defense.
It is no wonder then, that our system is rife with errors and injustices. Here at the Law Firm of Preston Ford Nichols, we offer private counsel to help you navigate through this gauntlet. Our fees are competitively priced at affordable rates. If you decide to retain us, we will negotiate a fee arrangement based on your budget and the complexity of the case.
